Yesterday was a huge day for Nike thanks to the release of the Magista, their first cleat to incorporate a woven upper through the use of the Flyknit technology. However, their biggest rivals took the chance to send a very clear message over social media.

While the world of soccer was buzzing about the new Magista, adidas took it to social media to release their Primeknit fs concept, a boot and sock hybrid, complementing the limited edition primeknit shoe launched the week before and to be worn by Luis Suarez. Far from a finished product, the adidas primeknit fs unveiling was more of a power-move from adidas. ¡°The world¡¯s first all-in-one football boot and sock hybrid¡±, as the German brand puts it, is actually an evolution of a boot dating back 60 years ¨C the adidas Argentina.

Don¡¯t be surprised to see adidas come out with something similar to the Magista very soon, perhaps even propelling the limited edition to be worn by Suarez to an official silo. It will be interesting to see where adidas goes from here with their Primeknit technology. However, the German brand wants to make one thing clear: they are leading the race, not trailing.
